I am thankful for being part of the team in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at McLeod Regional Medical Center.  What I like most about bedside patient care is the interaction between patient and caregiver.  As a caregiver, I provide the patient and their family encouragement, offer my time and company to the patient when their family cannot be there, and make sure the patient is taken care of properly.  The friendships I develop on a daily basis are bountiful.  It is sad to see some of our friends pass away, but it is very heart warming to see those who recover and go home.  One lesson I can draw from my experience on this unit is: if a person has a positive attitude and strong faith toward a challenge, anything is possible.
