To assure that McLeod Health remains the place nurses choose to practice and patients choose for excellent nursing care, McLeod implemented a Nursing Care Leadership Forum. This forum gives McLeod Staff Nurses a voice through collaboration and advocacy. The Nursing Care Leadership Forum works on issues like creating a work friendly environment, developing a Statement of Respect for Co-workers, and fostering the professional image of nursing.

Many of our nurses participate in our Clinical Awards Program (CAP). The CAP program offers nurses an opportunity to earn bonus pay and grow professionally by participating in patient centered projects and serving as champions and educators on their unit.

I am very proud of our nursing staff, 83 of whom are recipients of the South Carolina Palmetto Gold Award for Nursing Excellence as of 2009.
